No one in particular owns the past. Institutions like the government can have great impact on what is issued and relayed to the public, while communities and individuals can carry their own history and culture, through traditions, oral history, etc. For my website I have selected CC BY-NC 4, which allows sharing and adaption of my work under the conditions of proper attribution and non-commercial use. Most copyrights assigned to the sources used so far in this class allow for educational use and usually only require attribution. For my final project, I plan to select the CC BY-NC 4, the same as my website, so that my work can be copied and redistributed in any medium or format and adapted, as long as I’m credited and it is not for commercial use. Some limitations I may encounter for my final project include certain copyrights that require me to reach out to the creator for use, as they may not respond in time for me to utilize their work.
